The recommended method for fixing alignment problems is therefore to first run the new wizard for fine tuning of alignment and if there are any problems that only affect a few colums, to run the old wizard (which is now located in the "protected service"-menu).

New Functionality and Improvements

• New and improved wizard for fine tuning of alignment. The previous wizard functionality has been replaced with an improved method​ for correction of alignment problems. The new functionality can be found at the same location in the "user service"-menu and works in the same way as the old fine tuning wizard did.
  • Instructions on how to use the wizard. 
    • Press [MENU] and use the arrow keys to navigate to the "User Service" sub-menu.
    • Open the "User Service" sub-menu by pressing [ARROW RIGHT].
    • Use the [UP/DOWN]-arrow keys to navigate to the "Braille Adjustment" sub-menu.
    • Open the "Braille Adjustment" sub-menu by pressing [ARROW RIGHT].
    • Use the [UP/DOWN]-arrow keys to navigate to the "Wizard for Fine Tuning of Alignment".
    • Activate the wizard by pressing [OK]. 
    • The wizard contains 3 separate steps
      1. First press [OK] to select the braille size that should be printed. There are two possible choices (Standard braille 2.5 mm and Japanese braille 2.2 mm). Use the [UP/DOWN]-arrow keys to select your preferred braille size.
         • Press [OK] to confirm your preferred braille size.
      2. The embosser will automatically begin printing 9 pages with different alignment settings. Each pages has a number on it that will be used in the final step to set the alignment settings that you feel produce the best results.
         • After the embosser has printed the 9 pages, the embosser will say: "Press ok to select fine tune alignment". 
         • At this point you should examine the 9 pages and determine which page produces the best alignment.
         • Press [OK] to continue with the wizard, when you have determined the page with best alignment.
      3. Use the [UP/DOWN]-arrow keys to select the page number that has the best alignment.
         • For each press of the arrow key, the embosser will say: "Select printout X as new setting". (where X is the selected page number)
         • Press [OK] to confirm page selection.
         • The embosser will say: "Wizard completed. Press ok to save or press on to cancel". 
         • Press [OK] to save new alignment setting. The Wizard is completed!

• Please note 1) that if you feel that the page with the best alignment does not "go all the way" in improving the alignment, it is possible to re-run the wizard to further modify the alignment setting.

• Please note 2) that each speed setting has its own alignment setting. So you will need to run the wizard for each speed setting (low, medium and high) that has problems with the alignment. To change the alignment for a specific speed, you simply first change the current speed of the embosser to the desired one and then you run the fine tuning of alignment wizard. The wizard only sets the alignment for the currently selected speed.

• Please note 3) that the old wizard for fine tuning of alignment has not been removed. It has been moved to the "protected service"-menu and is still called "wizard for fine tuning of alignment". This wizard has not been removed since it may still be necessary correct problems with specific columns after the overall alignment has been fixed. The recommended method for fixing alignment problems is therefore to first run the new wizard for fine tuning of alignment and if there are any remaining problems (that only affect a few colums), to then run the old wizard (which is now located in the "protected service"-menu).

  • ​To activate the callibration wizard please press and hold the door button until you hear a single beep. The wizard will then talk you through the process of callibrating the linear actuator (door).

New Functionality and Improvements

• Support for linear actuator (door) callibration on BrailleBox V5. Some BrailleBox V5 units have had problems when closing the door, resulting in the door stopping early. One of the main causes of this problem was the maximum allowed current draw for the linear actuator was set too low. The new callibration routine will enable the correct current draw value to be set, reducing the risk for door problems.
  • To activate the callibration wizard please press and hold the door button until you hear a single beep. The wizard will then talk you through the process of callibrating the linear actuator (door).
